Location

Arran is the most accessible of the Scottish islands and is easily reached by ferry from Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast or Claonaig on the Kintyre peninsula.

The main ferry service from Ardrossan to Brodick takes only 55 minutes and runs several times daily, all year round. This ferry MV Caledonian Isles takes 120 cars and up to 1000 passengers. Booking for cars is advised especially during the peak summer months.

Ardrossan is ideally situated for Glasgow International and Prestwick Airports. The budget airline Ryanair has regular flights into Prestwick and Easy jet has direct flights to Glasgow Airport.

There is also a direct rail link from Glasgow Central to Ardrossan Harbour to link up with ferry times, Buchanan

A smaller ferry travels between Claonaig and Lochranza on the west coast of the island. This does not need to be booked and runs 10 times daily from the end of March until the end of October.

During the winter months a once daily service runs between Tarbert in Kintyre and Lochranza- advance booking is essential.

From the ferry terminal at Brodick Strathconon is only 8 miles away to the south. If not taking a car to the island, buses run to coincide with ferry timetables and we have a bus stop close by. Alternatively there are a number of taxi companies on the island.
